'In the Victorian ages Phantasmagoria was a form of horror theatre that used early methods of projection like magic lantern and pepper's ghost to project frightening images such as skeletons, demons, and ghosts onto walls, smoke, or semi-transparent screens using rear projection to keep the lantern out of sight. These events would be in almost total darkness and used sound effects to leave the audience so scared that people would run out of the theatre.'

We at Pop-Up Brighton are bringing back this noble tradition into the 21st Century using modern day projections, theatre, art and interactive works to bring a special immersive late night event to Brighton on Halloween.

We are pleased to announce we are working with Proud Country House in Stanmer Park to takeover the whole building including areas guests have never been before to take the audience on a journey through artistic hell and back.

There will be 2 stages with different DJ's downstairs as well as Brighton Film Club short horror film cinema.
Tickets are tiered including VIP tickets with unlimited prosecco for the first hour and bus transfers.

TO EXPECT
WHAT

Is it going to be scary?

We are putting on an immersive art event, our aim is to amaze not scare. Fear is subjective though and the original Victorian Phantasmagories were as scary as they were amazing. People would regularly  run out of these shows.

How does the tour work?

You will be given your timed slot on arrival. You will need to go to the designated area 10 minutes before your tour starts. You will then be guided through the curated artists installations for an hour.

Is there more then a tour?

So much more. There is one curated club room, an other club room from midnight, 3 bars, a short film cinema area and a special outdoors performance (weather dependant).

Is it fancy dress?

It's up to you. We highly recommend dressing up and you can take influence from Victorian costumes but its up to you.
